Fall For You Smoothie

This time of year I can easily find pears for 98 cents a pound, and apples for around a dollar a pound. This usually leads to a large pile of them accumulating in my fruit bowls and refrigerator drawers. The only thing better than eating these delightful fruits sliced and with peanut butter is making a nutritious whole fruit smoothie in my Vitamix. Here is a simple recipe that you probably already have the ingredients to:

1/2 cup grapes
1 pear, halved

1 carrot, peeled and halved
1/2 stick celery
1/2 apple

handful blackberries
3 or so cups of ice

Put the ingredients in the Vitamix container in order. You may leave the cores in the pears and apples if you wish. I usually do, it makes no difference in the taste or texture since the machine is so powerful and it only adds to the nutrients in the drink. Blend on high until the smoothie freely rolls around in the pitcher. Yum.
